Reformed. Always Reforming.

On October 31, four hundred and ninety seven years ago, Augustinian friar and theology professor, Brother Martin Luther nailed on the Wittenberg Church door a documeny he titled, The Ninety-Five Theses on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences (Latin: Disputatio pro declaratione virtutis indulgentiarum). It contained criticism and disputation protest against the common practices of the Church– nepotism, simony, usury, pluralism, and the sale of indulgences/salvation.

That act of a member of the clergy in 1517 became the catalyst to came to be known as the Protestant Reformation.

From as early as the 1300s, there have been sporadic protests against the abuses of the Church. The likes of Jan Hus and Savonarola have given their lives to the preaching of the Gospel and the plea for the return of the church to the apostles teachings. But Luther’s move sparked the beginnings of a new movement!

Happy Reformation Day
